A fantasy sport as we all know is a type of online game where sports fan participants assemble imaginary or virtual teams of real players of a professional sport. Participants do not have to be sports fans to play but typically they are the ones that would usually put in the time and effort to get involved. Now these virtual teams formed compete based on the statistical performance of those players in actual games and go on a point system to win at end of the season amongst the other participants you are playing against.
Now, let’s talk about the popularity of soccer in fantasy sports. Unfortunately, soccer is not amongst the top fantasy sports in the United States. It goes from Football (NFL), Basketball (NBA), Baseball (MLB), and then Hockey (NHL). Soccer is rarely participated in except for the few true fans that religiously follow the sport. And with the true fans, they indulge using teams from Europe for the most part, most especially the English Premier League. Why is it this way? Is it because Major League soccer in the United States is not popular and globally attractive as it should? The answer is yes, teams in Europe are more competitive with all the superstars that attract people to the games they play there.
Fantasy soccer is quite enjoyable and I hope that with the gradual rise of the Major League soccer more and more people will participate and use this league as some superstars move here at the end of their careers. Even at the end of their careers people still enjoy seeing them hence increase the number of people in the stance and make the league attractive enough for people to consider making and playing fantasy soccer which all helps in the upraise. It will be a long way to catch up on the attractiveness of the European league but there is a start for everything and that’s all we can do for now.
